Have you been a victim of a crime? The Center for Human Services Research at SUNY Albany has asked libraries to help publicize a survey it is conducting for crime victims. We are delighted to announce that Amazon’s “Kindle” e-reader can now be used to read books downloaded from GFJ’s “Overdrive” service. Click on the “Download Overdrive” icon at www.gfjlibrary.org and start reading. The collection is growing at a rate of about 40 titles per month.
You can search many old newspapers by using the “Chronicling of America” site hosted by the Library of Congress. Many old Endicott-area newspapers can be searched at via this link. Warning – it’s addicting!
Community Foundation for South Central New York – Broome Library Foundation’s Diane Brown and Laura Knochen-Davis present a $1250 award to GFJ Library Director, Ed Dunscombe and Village of Endicott Grantwriter Beth Putrino to digitize local newspapers from the 1930’s, as a part of GFJ’s Digital Archives Project.
